Women Bleed Too
Women Bleed Too is a permament project of the Haemophilia Society. It aims to ensure that bleeding disorders are a recognised condition among women, and that appropriate treatment and support are available to all those diagnosed. Through the project we raise awareness of this issue and offer support to women living with bleeding disorders.
There are a number of bleeding disorders which affect women as well as men, the most common being von Willebrand’s Disease, which affects an estimated 1% of the population. Women living with bleeding disorders can experience severe bleeding symptoms, particularly regarding heavy menstrual periods and bleeding after childbirth.
The Society aims to provide you with as much information as possible; whether you suspect you may have a bleeding disorder, have been recently diagnosed or you are concerned about a member of your family.
Strategic oversite of this area of work is provided by the Women's Board. If you would like to find out more about joining the board or the project in general then please get in touch.
