2011 Clydebank Conference and AGM

The 2011 Conference and AGM was held at the Beardmore Hotel, Clydebank, Glagow.

Saturday 5th November

After registration time was allowed to take advantage of our marketplace of stalls. As well as tea & coffee and the chance to catch up there were stalls on:

At the AGM Liz Rizzuto said a few words of goodbye before standing down as our Chair. She introduced Bernard Manson as the new Chair of the Haemophilia Society. The meeting then heard a very interesting financial presentation from our Honorary Treasurer Tim Metzgen. The message was that we were past the worst financially but there was still work to do to get our reserves up to the target of being enough to run the organisation for 6 months.

After lunch we came together to hear:

  • Future of Treament and Care with Liz Rizzuto, Kate Khair and Debra Pollard
  • Physiotherapy and Keeping Fit with Paul McLaughlin
  • Ask the Panel

Following a short break there was a choice of breakout sessions.

  • Influencing and Advocacy with Rob James, Dan Farthing. Chaired by Matt Gregory
  • Relaxation Techniques with Diane Roberts
  • Benefits for Children with Nigel Pegram

Meanwhile, the creche had been doing a fantastic job entertaining our younger members. The teenagers had also had a trip to the Glasgow Science Museum.

At dinner Chris James thanked all the trustees that have stood down since the last conference. Our grateful thanks go to Liz Rizzuto, Anne-Helene Biosse Duplan, Dawn Prideaux de Lacy, Debra Pollard and Philip Dolan. Presentations were also made to the Association of French Haemophiliacs and Irish Haemophilia Society's to thank then for joining us at the conference.

Bleeding Winners

After that there was a quiz expertly conducted by Keith England. For the second conference running the team including the Irish Haemophilia Society took the honours.
